Today I am bringing you another awesome freebie. I haven’t given away a vector freebie in a while, so I figure it’s about time to release another one for you all. Wouldn’t you agree?

The vector that I am releasing today is actually something that I designed for a tutorial that I recently had published over on SpyreStudios. It is a glossy heraldry vector with a Valentine’s Day theme. Yes, I know I’m a few days late, but I prefer to think of it as being a few months early. Besides, the tutorial itself was actually released on Valentine’s Day, and I wanted it to hit the “airwaves” before I released this freebie!

Heart of the Unicorn (Downloaded 844 times)

Obviously, this vector was inspired by my love of heraldry design, but with a bit of a twist. Instead of using the classical shield as the center point of the image, I elected to go with a heart instead. Then, because the heart kind of lead into a romantic theme, I decided to add in a couple of unicorns too, since the unicorn is often associated with young maids and such.

You are free to use this vector in your own designs – commercial or otherwise. All I ever ask is for you to send me a quick note letting me know how and where you used it. A sample of your design or a link back here would be greatly appreciated, too!

Oh, and both the wings and the unicorns were also hand drawn and then vectorized in Illustrator, so this is definitely a hand crafted vector. Also, all of the elements – heart, wings, unicorns, banner and star-burst or broken out onto separate layers. Feel free to extract any of them and is it on its own.

One of the current design trends that I absolutely love is the use of heraldry. It probably has something to do with my life-long love of fantasy, and the whole connection to Medieval Lords and Ladies and knights in shinning armour. Some of the novels that I read actually go into quite a bit of detail about coats of arms and such.

So, today, I am bringing you 9 wicked and free heraldry vectors (or collections of vectors). I collected these from a number of of the web’s greatest sources for free vectors, and they come in a variety of different styles.

Lord Pheonix Heraldry Vector by... Me!

Please forgive a little shameless self promotion on that last one! Also for vectors 7 and 8, I could not find an actual artist to credit, but I thought they were brilliant pieces and wanted to share them here. If anyone knows who the artists are, please let me know so that I can give them proper credit! I would also recommend using these two mostly as a reference. Open them up, tear them apart and see what you can learn for creating your own heraldry designs! If you want to use these in your designs, please consider doing a bit more research and getting in touch with the artist directly.

Which brings me to another point. Please do respect the various licenses under which these vectors are released. The respective artists obviously put a lot of work into making them, and the fact that they are giving them away at all is very noble!

So enjoy these. Salivate over their awesomeness, take the time to learn a thing or two, and above all, be sure to respect the wishes of the respective artists and give credit where credit is due!

To celebrate the launch of this site, I am giving away what I think is a super cool vector that I designed specifically for all you vector freebie lovers out there!

The whole vector heraldry is a pretty popular trend right now. It also fits in really nicely with my love of (almost) all things fantasy. I thought I would take a turn at doing a similar design myself, but with my own unique spin on it. So, I am officially introducing the Lord Heraldry Phoenix Vector:

The design is intended to be clean and modern (though, you could easily grunge it up). I also wanted to use something a bit different than the typical lions or griffins for the hearaldric beast, so I used the Phoenix as my inspiration.
